Aala Nyman is a multidisciplinary artist based in Helsinki.



She develops her ideas from observations related to domestic surroundings, the habits formed around items, cleaning and other matters of the everyday. Being fond of playing with the relations between utility items and their intended using purposes she searches aspects in our attitudes and values towards things that are unproductive, disposable, hidden or unfinished. Nyman transforms these themes into creations through using various mediums such as sculpture, ceramics, installation, photography, video, and textiles.
